The IRCCS Institute of Gastroenterology “S. de Bellis” is a hospital with a gastroenterological medical and surgical address which operates in this field as a Scientific Hospitalization and Treatment Institute since 1982 in Castellana Grotte (Bari, Italy).
The IRCCS is a UNI EN ISO9001 certified institute, in which clinical and  experimental activities comply with European guidelines and safety standards.

IRCCS “de Bellis” recognizes as its mission the satisfaction of the person’s health need through persecution, referring to gastroenterological diseases and metabolic and nutritional disorders, mainly training and research objectives, mainly in the field of biomedicine and in the organization and management of health services, together with the provision of hospitalization and care services. IRCCS “de Bellis” is part of the Puglia Health Care System, where it carries out high-qualification tasks in relation to care, research and training. At organizational level, the structure is regulated on the basis of regional law as an unprocessed research entity and therefore its organization and operation are governed by the regional law and its corporate act.

The research activities are organized into 3 items:  PRECISION MEDICINE, PREVENTIVE/PREDICTIVE MEDICINE, PARTICIPATIVE MEDICINE in GASTROENTEROLOGY.

The IRCCS de Bellis consists of 20 care and cure departments, where the assistance provided to the citizen is based on constant research activities, mainly translational, in the biomedical field. In IRCCS “Saverio de Bellis” there are 9 research laboratories:
